This page describes the Governance of the Wendover Canal Trust, and includes our Policies and annual reports. Wendover Canal Trust is the operating name of the Wendover Arm Trust charity.

Governance – Our Volunteers

We are all volunteers.
Sir David Suchet CBE, actor and canal enthusiast is the Trust’s first Patron. He was guest of honour at the opening ceremony to mark the completion of phase 1 in 2005.
TV personality and vlogger Robbie Cumming, who presents “Canal Boat Diaries” on the U&Yesterday TV channel, is also a Patron.
Our President is Dr David Fletcher CBE.

The Trust is run by a Council of Trustee Directors who meet quarterly.
The day-to-day operation of the Trust is delegated to an Executive listed below, who meet on Zoom weekly:

Peter Elwin – Deputy Chairman, Partnerships Director
Mike Beckley – Deputy Chairman, Head of Finance, Honorary Secretary
Paul Armstrong – Treasurer
Chris Sargeant – Archivist, and previous Chairman
Steve Chapman, one of our Site Management team is also on our Council
Three non-Council-members attend Executive meetings in an advisory capacity:
Colin Heal, our Site Manager, plus two other members of our Site Management team, Mikk Bradley and Tony Bardwell.

Mike Beckley’s Finance team includes:
Peter Lockett – Purchasing
Jenny Brice – IWA Nominee and Minutes Secretary.

Peter Elwin’s Partnerships team includes:
Ken Palfrey – Volunteer Coordinator and Webmaster
Bob Wheal
Peter Bird – Membership
Nigel Williams – Publicity
Colin Metcalfe – Calendar
Carol Williams and Janine Jones continue to edit the Newsletter but are not Council members.
