Thanks to WCT Funders

Acknowledgement of funders and other key organisations.

Several organisations have been instrumental in contributing funding for the recent towpath refurbishment from Wendover to Halton.
This webpage will explain the refurbishment work which has taken place, and crucially the organisations which in various ways have enabled the improvements.
Passers-by will simply scan the QR logo on the new towpath signs via their smartphone and they will be taken to this dedicated page on our web site listing the contributing organisations.

A feature of the improvement is a suite of replacement towpath signs, ranging from informational signs (waypoint, directions) to Points of Interest (historical context, unique features).
These signs all follow Canal & River Trust signage guidelines and will be in place this Spring.
Welcome signs are situated at major access points onto the towpath (for example at Wendover, Wharf Road) and are accompanied by notices giving historical context.

Other improvements also enabled by the funding received are the construction of a new brick wall and railings at Wharf Road, at the entrance to the refurbished towpath.
