During the December Tidy Friday event, a further 180 tree whips were planted on the land adjacent to the winding hole.
The area is now planted as a future Canal Copse giving cover to many small animals and birds.
Our morning work was watched closely by a couple of Robins, hoping around from wheelbarrow to spades.
To the righthand side a badgers set was identified 4 years ago and this has been left untouched and has since been sheltered by an impregnable bramble patch.
This will increase the biodiversity in that area, which is alongside a footpath that can be used for a loop walk via Whitehouses and the canal towpath. Many dog walkers use this route on a regular basis.
During the summer work relates to continued enhancing of the Whitehouses Wild Flower Meadow and also keeping grass short at various sites along the canal.
Are you looking for a new venture during 2024 in the outdoors, why not come and join us. This is usually held on the second Friday of each month. Check website for details. We work from 9am, and bring our picnic lunch and work till 2pm.
We hope you enjoy your Christmas Holiday and Best Wishes for the New Year from all at Wendover Canal Trust
