The Towpath in Winter

With no restoration scheduled at the moment our Volunteers have taken to enjoying the pleasure of brisk winter walks along the Wendover Canal Towpath.

Here’s some photographs of the wildlife seen on their recent wanderings.

Please remember that the Towpath from Wendover to Halton has undergone a major upgrade.
Also that the Towpath section from Little Tring Road to Bridge 4 has also been improved.
Allowing greater accessibility during the winter period.

In addition, dedicated volunteers have been hard at work to ensure that the Pocket Park on the Wendover Canal is in pristine condition for winter visitors.

Good to see our resident Mandarin pairs still in residence at Wendover Wharf.

But who is this mystery visitor hanging around the Wides?

It’s a handsome Teal, the UKs smallest and cutest duck!
Most likely flown in from the Baltic area to overwinter in the UK.

This Drake is travelling with a couple of Hens.
As you all know I’m sure a group of Teals is known as a ‘Spring’.

And here’s an escapee hiding out in Halton village!
From a farm yard near you no doubt!
