The canal towpath alongside the Wendover end of the Wendover Canal needs upgrading. The Canal & River Trust (with our support) put forward 4 options to upgrade the towpath. The sad picture below is not the worst of what’s there now. A decision was due to be taken at the Wendover Communities Board on 16th March, but has been postponed for up to 3 months. Wendover Arm Trust is actively campaigning for at least the stretch within Wendover Parish to be upgraded, which would cost £300K.
This project forms part of the Grand Union Canal Triangle and so is strategically important. The strategic reasons are in the document linked at the foot of this page. Significant progress has already been made on the Aylesbury Arm section of the Triangle, but not yet on the Wendover Arm Canal.
